虽然书名叫《无薪主妇》，但是实际上是上野教授若干演讲内容的选集。由于是以面向非学术人士的演讲，所以文字上非常容易理解。书的大小和厚度、重量都适合随身携带，每篇文章的长度也不长，适合碎片时间阅读。

只要翻开看下去了，就会发现上野教授的犀利大胆的表达非常的上头，有可能一开始看会觉得「啊，这些现在已经是常识了呀」，但是过了半天或者一夜，脑子里就有可能突然的醒悟过来：原来是这个样子，这个角度我怎么没想到呢？

上野教授的观念在我看来是普世的，她所推广的“女性主义”实际上是超越了性别的“让弱者也能以弱者的身份有尊严的活下去”的主张。我想在后新冠的时代，每个人都或多或少能够感觉到无力感和弱者的感觉吧。读者的这种亲身体验可能也是这几年上野教授的书中国大陆卖得特别多的原因之一。
